BIOTECH-CORRESPONDENCE PROGRAMME

There is no magic formula for success. It requires right preparatory guidance from the very beginning. The correspondence programmes offered by The PATHFINDER ACADEMY lay emphasis on making the students to imbibe the fundamental concepts and on sharpening their analytical skill. The materials are very comprehensive in context and treatment but also highly focused and organized to optimize success. Materials are specially designed to provide you strong competencies on subjects and develop confidence in basics, problem solving skills and a competitive advantage. It also equips the students with validated tools to measure progress, improve and maximize performance.

CORRESPONDENCE PROGRAMME

Under correspondence programme we provides
1. Study Material
2. Practice Papers
3. Previous years solved papers of JNU/IIT
4. Online/Postal Unit Tests
5. Mock Tests (Postal or Classroom)
6. Doubt clearing session

STUDY MATERIALS
We believe that the educational material should be simple, precise, easy to understand and practical so that even an average student can utilize it.
Study material has deep extensive coverage of theory to build up a solid foundation and clear concepts in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology according to newer trends and patterns of entrance examinations. In physics, Mathematics and chemistry, every topic covers relevant theory, solved problems, and the exercises. It has been designed to enhance the self motivation and strategic learning skill of students and empowering them with a mechanism to measure and analyze their abilities. The course material is in the English medium only.

Syllabus
Syllabus for M.Sc. biotech and biological sciences entrance examinations conducted by most of universities and institutions (like JNU, AIIMS, JIPMER, BHU) are not defined. Only IIT and IISc have declared syllabus for entrance test. So, syllabi we covers not only includes IIT and IISc but also according to the pattern of previous years question papers of JNU, AIIMS, ACBR, JIPMER and others.

Biology
PART-I
Basic features (Properties of water, Energetics, Thermodynamics and pH), Amino acid and Proteins (structure, function and metabolism), Nucleic acids (structure, function and metabolism), Carbohydrates (structure, function and metabolism), Lipids (structure, function and metabolism), Enzyme and Vitamins, Respiration, Photosynthesis, Cell biology (Cell structure and function), Cell division, Cell signaling and Cancer, Microbiology (Bacteria and Virus), Immunology, Classical genetics (Mendel’s laws, Gene interaction, Linkage, Gene mapping, Sex linked inheritance, Quantitative inheritance, Cytoplasmic inheritance and Population genetics)
PART–II
Molecular genetics (Genome organization, DNA replication, Recombination and DNA repair, Transcription, Gene regulation, Protein synthesis, Gene mutation], Recombinant DNA technology, Plant Biotechnology (Cell and tissue culture techniques, Applications of cell and tissue culture, Gene transfer methods in plants, Transgenic plants, Diagnostics in agriculture and molecular breeding), Animal biotechnology (Animal cell culture, Cell line, Gene therapy), Plant physiology, Human physiology, Animals-General features (Classification, Important properties of phylum, Plants-General features (Classification, Features of plant groups), Fungi, Ecology and Evolution

Chemistry
Physical and Inorganic Chemistry

Basic concept of chemistry, Atomic structure, Periodic properties, Chemical bonding, Gaseous state, Thermodynamics, Solution, Chemical kinetics, Chemical equilibrium, Ionic equilibrium, Redox reaction and Electrochemistry, Solid state, Inorganic compounds, Coordination compounds.
Organic Chemistry
General organic chemistry, Hydrocarbons, Alkyl and Aryl halides, Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers, Aldehydes and Ketones, Carboxylic acids and their derivatives, Amines

Physics
PART-I
Dimensions, Vectors, Motion in One and Two Dimension, Newton’s laws of motion, Circular motion, Work, Power and Energy, Centre of mass, Collision and Momentum, Rotational Mechanics, Gravitation, Simple Harmonic Motion, Waves
PART-II
Heat and Thermodynamics, Light (Reflection, Refraction, Eye and Optical instruments, Prism: deviation and dispersion, Wave nature of light), Electrostatics (Electric potential and dipole, Electric force and field, Capacitance), Current(Current electricity, Thermoelectric effects of current), Magnetic effect and Magnetism (Magnetic effect of current, Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction, Alternating Current) Modern Physics (Photoelectric effect, Atomic structure and Radioactivity, Excitation potential and Ionization potential, Semiconductors)

Mathematics
In the entrance examinations mathematics is not compulsory. It is only required for IIT-JAM. So, topics covered under mathematics for IIT-JAM are - Trigonometry (Basic concept, General solution, Inverse, Properties of triangle), Algebra (Complex number, Quadratic equation, Permutation and Combination, Matrices and Determinant, Binomial Theorem), Calculus (Function, Limit and Continuity, Differentiation, Application of derivatives, Integration, Differential equation), Coordinate geometry (Coordinate system, Straight line, Circle and Conic section), Probability and Vector.

PRACTICE PAPERS
An exclusive fundamental search based package of multiple choice questions, is basically designed for Biotechnology and Life Science Entrance Examinations by The Pathfinder Academy for students to help them revise, consolidate and polish their knowledge and skills. This includes chapterwise previous years questions along with their solutions from JNU, IIT, IISc, GATE, AIIMS and others Biotechnology/Life sciences entrance examinations. It also includes similar pattern new application based factual and synthetic questions for in-depth understanding of subject and test their comprehension of key concepts. Practice papers contains more than 5000 Multiple Choice Questions and their solutions in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

PREVIOUS YEARS SOLVED PAPERS
Correspondence programme also includes previous years solved paper of JNU combined biotech entrance examination (last eight years) and IIT-JAM (last four years).

ONLINE/POSTAL UNIT TESTS
There is a misconceptions that merely solving large number of test papers without caring for standard of their questions would prepare one for all India entrance tests like IIT/JNU/IISc/AIIMS. One must note that it is the diversity and standard of questions that matter. Merely solving questions upto the level of 10+2 especially in biology lead to nowhere. Standard of questions should be at par with the JNU/IIT/IISc/AIIMS entrance papers.

Postal/Online test series is designed to maximize the study gains and further hone up skills Postal/Online test series includes fifteen unit tests. Each unit test paper will contain 120 questions (Bio-50, Che-30, Phy-25, Math-15).
